One of porcelain’s strengths is its ability to mimic the looks of natural stone and other materials, while being generally cheaper and easier to maintain than the materials it mimics. This porcelain tile from Daltile, called Aspen Lodge, is meant to look like slate. It is also color body porcelain, meaning that the color permeates the tile.
Note: The main difference between porcelain and ceramic is the temperature the tiles are fired (or baked) at, as porcelain is baked at higher temperature than ceramic tiles. The high baking temperatures contribute to porcelain’s durability.
