Shower Pans
One Piece of the Shower Puzzle
Using a shower pan gives you the option of still being able to customize your shower walls, as this pebble-lined shower illustrates.
Shower pans cover the floor of your shower. They come in a variety of materials, including acrylic, natural stone and cast iron. Most shower pans are square, rectangular, or neo-angle. Neo-angle shower pans fit into corners and are five-sided. Shower pans are useful when you want a shower unit with custom walls, but do not want the added expense of installing a tile floor.

Pros
• Some shower pans come with a prefabricated half wall that has built-in features like benches.
• Easier and cheaper to install than a tile shower floor.
• Allows you to have custom shower features like tiled walls and glass doors.
Cons
- Only cover the floor of your shower; usually do not address your shower walls.
- While shower pans are available in a variety of surfaces, they can still be difficult to match with the rest of your bathroom’s décor.
